In the conference proceedings of the 10th symposium for materials and structural mainte-nance a historical overview of the material concrete is presented by well-known authors and the interaction of architecture and construction is explained. Subsequently, it is shown how the properties of fresh concrete can be influenced, what possibilities textile-reinforced concrete has and what the design potentials of precast concrete are. Finally, outstanding designs examples are portrayed.
